This is my latest tote that I've made. I have to say that usually things go a lot smoother. The finished product isn't bad. However, the journey there was truly mind numbingly difficult!

This is the cutting out stage. This tote comes from an upcycled shirt that I found in one of my weekly thrift store forays. As a shirt, it was truly tacky, but I couldn't resist the appliqued birds, the embroidered leaves, and the glued on rhinestones. I'm a sucker for that stuff. So purchase was made, and now all that was left was finding a way to make something out of using those things that I liked.

So this is what it looks like all cut out. I decided not to use the top triangle. Initially that was going to be a flap to close the top, but I decided to go with a much simpler button and loop closure for this tote. It seemed too much, and besides, the pointy part covered up some of the neat stuff!
Here comes the mind numbing part.. I sewed the top shut. Yep.That's right. So my birds were flying upside down. So I spent much of my time ripping out seams. It seems all's well that ends well though, and they turned out alright in the end!
